Singapore Colorectal Surgeon, Dr Ng has been in clinical practice for over 20 years with more than 10 years as a specialist colorectal surgeon. He is honoured to be former President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons Singapore (SCRS).
His passion has been in advancing the practice of (keyhole) minimally invasive surgery (MIS). These days, Dr Ng routinely employs MIS for both simple (e.g. appendix, gallbladder) and complicated (e.g. colorectal cancer) cases.

Enquan240 days agoI am deeply grateful to Dr Ng for his exceptional care and surgical expertise throughout my treatment journey. Last year, he successfully removed my rectal GIST tumour and created a temporary stoma to support my recovery. He took the time to explain my condition, the surgical plan, and the recovery process clearly and patiently, which was very reassuring. As the tumour was located extremely close to my anus, complete removal while preserving normal bowel function was especially challenging — yet Dr Ng remained determined and committed in achieving the best possible outcome. irene lee780 days agoI'd like to recommend and thank Dr Ng for his skilled and experienced hands in handling my surgery for an appendicitis last month. By the next morning I was able to get off the bed and within 2 weeks I was back to normal. Now its slightly more than a mth and I am completely well. I had other keyhole surgery that went very bad resulting in infection from bacteria found in the operating theatre by other doctors before and causing hernia of the belly button. So I am very happy with Dr Ng. Thank you! He is indeed very good at his area of focus. Highly recommended. His clinic staff are also very swift and speedy as my case was one of an emergency. He gave thorough explanations on all the surgical procedures that I would go through prior to my surgery, answered my queries and tried his best to alleviate my worries and concerns. Pauline Ten878 days agoHad colonoscopy and gastroscopy performed by Dr Ng early Apr 2024 and a subsequent follow-up mid May 2024. The thought of a procedure terrified me (am sure as would anyone), however surprisingly, it wasn’t the case. When I was at Mt. Alvernia Hospital getting ready for the procedure, I felt at ease. It went well and the whole process was rather seamless. At the follow-up visit, Dr Ng was clear in his explanations on the types of polyps removed. The clinic assistants at the Parkway East branch were pleasant. It wasn’t a touch and go. Both Xueting and Evelyn were concerned and asked about my well being. The fact that they were willing to engage in conversations aside from just issuing an invoice, speak volumes of their work commitments…patients focused. Wendy Lim982 days agoDr Ng has been patient with answering my questions and lessened my anxiety on the procedures required. He was honest with what to expect and I was assured with his competence and experience. To my surprise, he managed to accomodate by situating the laporoscopic incisions around my tattoo and belly ring which I was grateful for. Definitely not the sort of doctor who tries to get you out of his room asap (sadly common these days). The nurses (Xueting, Jie Ling and Hui Yee) are also very professional. Charlie Lee1238 days agoIn May 2018, I was experiencing blood in my stool. Dr. Ng immediately attended to me. CT scan and colonoscopy detected cancer and I was operated. Close and careful follow-up in the following months by Dr Ng. In January 2022, I experienced pains again. Gallstones were extracted and gallbladder was removed in two separate surgeries. Regular follow-up with Dr. Ng. Through my cancer, gallstones and gallbladder journeys, I have experienced Dr. Ng's competent care and compassion. He patiently answered our questions and fears. Dr. Ng's staff -Xue Ting, Jie Ling and Hui Yee are also wonderful and caring ladies, and who even advised us on my post-op diet when my wife asked them. My wife and I are thankful to Dr. Ng and his staff for looking after me all these years in times of need. I will strongly recommend Dr Ng to my family and friends. Nellie Gan1387 days agoI would like to commend Dr Ng and his staff, Xue Ting for displaying professionalism in handling an emergency case for my son, who had suffered fm a perforated appendix but was misdiagnosed as good poisoning by TTSH. XT swiftly attended to my urgent inquiry despite on a Sunday and promptly arranged for my son to be transferred to Mt. E within 3 hrs. Dr Ng was quick-witted to discover my son’s severe condition which could have been life-threatening if it was further delayed without surgery. Jen Kiat Chew1418 days agoI first came to One Surgical in Jan. Was looking to rectify what I thought then was a hernia. Found One Surgical/Dr Ng Chee Yung resume in Google Chrome among many others and decided to "try" this clinic. The initial consultation was very professionally done. No drama, no oversell just down to earth. Dr Ng diagnosed a hydrocelle, not hernia. Process and surgery was scheduled and executed within 2 weeks. Am happy that all went well with the op and a night stay at Mt E Novena hospital. A second unrelated and more serious incident occurred in Aug. I was bleeding internally and visibly. Earlier in Apr my GP doctor did suggest to do a colonscopy as I have not had any done before, already 67 and the yearly lab reading did show some aneamia indicating loss of blood somewhere internally. Well many of us do indulge in self denial and if you do not see something it is not there or serious enough. By Aug it was frequent (daily) and serious enough to make me need to do something. Found an available stretch of about 2 weeks in Nov and went back to see Dr Ng again in Oct. Same professional consultation, brief and concise explanation. Endoscopy/Colonscopy (and pet scan + mri was done same day) after a tumour was found. The tumour turned out malignant. Surgery was scheduled for within 12 days. Keyhole and Robotic was selected and executed. Everything went well, even a stoma bag deployment was avoided and I was sitting up on the second day, shuffling about slowly from third and back to work (light duties) 3 days after discharge after 5 days stay in Mt E Novena hospital (which provided excellent care and attention). So thankful to have had a very successful op and recovery. Kudos to Dr Ng Chee Yung, One Surgical staff, Mt E Novena hospital and staff (W04)🙏.Posted on Google

Annie SJ Yam1500 days agoI first saw Dr Ng in end July for an issue with my spleen. Dr Ng is an amazing doctor who has the patience to explain in human words while the patient is panicking, disoriented and in denial when the patient first knew about the need for surgery. After talking to him, I finally have the conviction and peace to go for the surgery. Dr Ng's surgical skills are also great, my 5 wounds from the surgery are healing well and it looks like I won't have an issue with keloid, which I am prone to. Something very positive that adds to that experience with Dr Ng is that he has amazing nurses who are nice and warm. They are able to handle all your random questions & logistics/ coordination with kindness and professionalism with a human touch. Answers to WhatsApp texts are quick. Tanner T1512 days agoRecommended to Dr Ng by my GP and I am delighted my surgery was a success. My surgery was 2 months ago. 1st consultation was great as he (Dr Ng) provided a detailed diagnosis of my issues and the surgery process. A date for the surgery was set. A few days later due to some frequent pain occurred, he managed to have the surgery date brought forward. Right before the surgery he was very attentive & assuring in relaxing me down (for someone that only been on one surgery 15 years ago) thus you will understand how important the surgeon's assurance was to me. Operational and was a success. Negligible post-ops pain and all was good after 4 days. The admin staff are friendly, prompt in addressing my queries and had made my pre & post-surgery communications with ease. I would anytime, without hesitation, recommend Dr Ng. WaiMun CHAN1548 days agoThis is not a glowing review due to obligations or promises but simply because I feel compelled to share my personal experience in my recent medical journey and to give credit when it is absolutely due to the individuals making up the amazing team at One Surgical. It all started when I happened to accidentally call a telephone line late at night that was not intended for general enquiries but nevertheless Xueting, the clinic manager and nurse, patiently answered all my queries on colonoscopy and booking procedure, what to expect and she helped me to secure a doctor consultation immediately plus also suggested to pre-book a date for the hospital scope centre to save on waiting time. And just like that: from that initial encounter, I decided this is the medical team I want looking after me. And that was fully reinforced from the moment I met Dr Ng. There was implicit trust and assurance in his ability to discern what issues are more concerning for me, giving relevant advice that matters and helping me to see the big picture and the way forward. He adopted a holistic approach in reviewing all my prior medical reports, tests and scans and offering suggestions to focus on the immediate needs and with an eye to the future. Post-colonoscopy and when I was eventually diagnosed with colorectal cancer, I couldn’t have found a better person and doctor to assist me on my recovery journey. Dr Ng spent a far longer time than I had expected of a specialist in explaining my condition and the proposed treatment plan, addressing concerns I might have; and in the process my initial fears were replaced with hope and a mission plan that was comforting. Post-surgery while warded, in the daily visits from Dr Ng until discharge and in the follow-ups from his team in communicating with me, I have never felt like I was “just a patient” and they were just doing their jobs. Throughout my entire journey with Dr Ng and his medical team, what strikes me most - apart from the professional skills and competence - is also the genuine care and concern shown for patients that was personalised and so engaging. It was pure luck and my good fortune that I picked them and by writing this review, I am hoping to redress that by perhaps offering assistance to others to make a more informed decision than I did.Posted on Google

SC Ng1579 days agoMy dad was diagnosed with rectal cancer last year in 2021, and after rounds of chemotherapy and radiation to shrink the tumour, was referred to Dr Ng Chee Yung by his oncologist. Dr Ng presented the treatment option of a robotic surgery to remove the tumour. We were naturally very apprehensive about any surgery for my dad who is 90 years old, and especially this one which is very challenging given the location of the tumour and the expected duration of the surgery. So we were really hesitant and spent a few anxious sessions in Dr Ng’s clinic asking him many questions repeatedly about the surgery risks and alternative options for a 90 year old patient. Throughout our sessions with Dr Ng, he was understanding and always very patient in addressing our concerns and explaining the pros and cons of the various options. With his medical expertise and wealth of experience, Dr Ng was clearly confident of carrying out the operation but he did not rush us in our decision making. Eventually, my dad underwent the robotic surgery under Dr Ng’s good hands and the tumour was removed successfully and a stoma created. A planned operation to close the stoma was done 10 weeks after the removal of the tumour. Thanks to Dr Ng, both operations were very successful and uneventful and my dad’s recovery was amazing; Thank you very much Dr Ng! Special mention must be made to Dr Ng’s team at the clinic, namely Nurse Manager Xue Ting, Hui Yee and Jie Ling. They are always cheerful, positive and assuring in their interactions with us at the clinic. Just as important, they are very responsive and effective in addressing our requests and concerns. Not only has he taken great care of my mum & my health, but also he is very nice and patience to speak with at every appointment and never rush us to leave his consultation room sooner till I have completed asking all my questions . Jocelyn Koh1629 days agoDr Ng is very professional, experienced and patient. He can also communicate in Mandarin. My Dad see him to have a keyhole hernia repair surgery. The surgery was very well done and his wound also heal well. Dr Ng is very careful with my dad before, during and after surgery, knowing that my dad has a medical history. Dr Ng is very professional, kind, patient, caring and extremely knowledgeable. He always take time to explain everything to me as well as the treatment options. I have been with Dr Ng now for over 4 years. I always felt at ease, comfortable and made me feel I’m in good hands. The staff are awesome. They are friendly, kind and helpful. Andrew Andrew1642 days agoVery fortunate to have Dr Ng as my surgeon during my recent opn to close my stoma. I was having poor recovery due to a blockage following the opn. Because of his attentiveness, he and his clinic very quickly arranged with the hospital for a follow up opn and I was able to walk out of the hospital in just about a week later. This is a very outstanding practice. Dr Ng is a doctor who really cares. Really expresses his interest in your concerns and questions as a patient.
